A lot of us have preconceived notions about what our hair can and can not do. With my 4C natural hair, I had given up all hope on ever getting my hair to have a silky appearance without the use of chemicals or extreme heat. But Jamia of Natural Oasis, slayed all my nightmares and scary dreams giving breath to new life with my hair. After Michelle interviewed Jamia on her product line, I reached out to her since we are both in the DC area. I was itching to cut my hair and she did that on the fly for me. Then we set a date for her style my hair and well what a night it was.

You can find all the details on the Natural Oasis product line in the previous post by Michelle. Natural Oasis was the only products used in my hair and the results were dronetastic, eff a bomb we’ve moved into the new decade with drone-tastic hair. Out of this world.

4c-natural-hair-guide-calloutFirst my hair was shampooed with the Natural Oasis Fruit Herbs & Flowers ACV Rinse. Then we did a no rinse deep conditioner, that left me with my face screwed up as we used my Q-Redew to steam the Honey Creme Balm into my hair and then DID NOT rinse it out. Like how that work? That’s it? We not finna seal? Nope on to setting my hair with various size perm rods and flexi rods in the front of my hair, only using the Fruit, Herbs & Flowers Setting Lotion. Partial let my hair air dry as I cooked dinner and then sat under the dryer for about an hour. Jamia set the curls in the small side since I wanted it to last for at least 3 days — and it ended up lasting more than a week!

I simply slept with a satin bonnet, and I reset the curls in the front twice, with smaller perm rods. That was it. I didn’t apply any extra product. The key is really in how Jamia wraps the hair around the curler and then me keeping my hands out of my hair! Wish I could have her do my hair every week.

Check the video to see how this look was achieved and the photo gallery for my hair throughout the week.

All Natural Oasis products are available for purchase online and select retailers.

  1. This is by far a fabulous hairstyle! OMG this rollerset is indeed bomb! I love it and now wanting a fierce roller set as such!

  2. First and far most, I am a new follower of your blog and YouTube Channel! I had no idea you are in the DC area. So am I!!!! This is so exciting, especially since I have 4C hair and always looking for styles to create. Your hair always looks amazing, but this cut and this style is EVERYTHING! Kudos and I hope to run into you one day or meet at a Natural Hair Meetup. 🙂

  3. Your hair looks sooooo Fly!!! I noticed the flip of Jamia’s wrist as she rolled your hair. It seems like she was twisting and rolling it at the same time. Love, love, love it!!!

  4. First off – beautiful hairstyle! I was laughing a couple of times as Jamia repeatedly repositioned your head during styling – flashback to back in the day when that would’ve been followed with a whack of the comb, LOL!

I’m a PJ and purchased a Natural Oasis set after reading an interview on CurlyNikki. I purchased the set and tried it once. My 4c hair frizzed but I got a lot of wear out of it just like you did.

Now that I’ve seen your vid, I will revisit the Natural Oasis products because they are simple yet elegant and the regimen is sound.

I truly enjoy your videos and blog!

  5. I really love that cut on your and the products that Jamia used on your hair really gave your hair a lot of shine. I’ll have to give those products a try because my hair is as dull as can be but it is also a dusty reddish brown color so I guess that maybe that’s just how my hair is.

p.s. I would like to showcase natural hair on my blog and would love it if the ladies of the natural hair community can support me and my blog by submitting photos of their hair to my email styleonedge@me.com to be posted on my blog. Please include a little bit about yourself, where you’re from, how long you’ve been natural etc. I would really appreciate the support.

  6. Hi Jouelzy! your hair looks amazing. was your hair as frizz free in person as it looked in the video? also, what was the prodcut that she used on your hair (yellow bottle) as she was taking your rods out? looked like some type of spray but wasn’t sure what it was.

  7. I love the cut and the style!!! New to your site and this 4c hair……is another story but I finding hope in you lol thanks!!!!

  8. I am a new follower an this video gave me hope I plan on getting this style done an will be doing more styles with my hair. Going natural is new for me but I really like it.

  9. Was looking to get my hair cut soon and live in the DC area, where and who did your cut for you?
