Most people want to be healthy but who really has the time to do a complete overhaul of their diet? Start small. If you try to make too many changes too soon it can get overwhelming and you may just say “forget it” and choose not to make any changes at all.
The first step is to make the decision that you want to be a little healthier. There is no way that you can be a healthy person if you do not eat healthy foods and have healthy health practices.
Here are some easy ways to jumpstart your health that anyone can do:
Eliminate Artificial Sweeteners
No matter what the commercials say, artificial sweeteners are bad for you! Artificiou want to be a little healthier. There is no way that you can be a healthy person if you do not eat healthy foods and have healthy health practices.
Here are some easy ways to jumpstart your health that anyone can do:al sweeteners have been linked to cancer and heart disease. There are so many studies that prove this point.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because a product says “sugar free” that makes it healthy. Really, the sweetener in it is an artificial sweetener. The best sugars are the ones that occur naturally in fruits. 100% juice can be just as delicious as Kool-Aid. Generally speaking, all soda is pretty bad for you but diet soda is one of the worst decisions that you can make for your body.
Quit Smoking
Smoking cigarettes are bad from you! The cigarette companies don’t even try to hide it. The reason(s) why you smoke doesn’t matter as much as the value that you put on your life. Comparing these two things may seem like apples and oranges but they are directly related.
Every time you light up a cigarette you are giving an open invitation for cancer, heart disease, halitosis, and wrinkles to inhabit your body. How you quit (cold turkey, the patch, etc) is not as important as the reason why you are quitting. Without a good reason, you won’t have anything to motivate you to keep going. I quit smoking for my child. What’s your motivation?
Drink More Water
Our bodies are made up of mostly water so it is no surprise that we need a lot of water to stay in top shape. When my chiropractor told me that everyone should drink a gallon a day, I thought he was crazy. Turns out, he was right! So, drink some water. If it is too boring for you, you can always add some lemon to it for some flavor.
Choose Your Meats Wisely
Pork may be one of the worst things that you can put into your body. Pigs are filthy animals and most of the diseases and worms that they carry cannot be cooked away.
Fatty cuts of beef should also be eliminated from your diet. Or, at least reduce the amount that you are eating. Beef is very tough on the digestive system. Have you ever seen older people with that “beer belly”? Well, that doesn’t come from beer. What you are seeing is old meat and other substances that are tough to digest. Instead of being eliminated by natural processes, it builds up in the colon and intestines instead. This looks bad physically and it makes you unhealthy because it makes it much harder for the body to absorb any nutrients from the healthy foods that you are eating.
It is important to be conscious of what you put into your body. Life is short but life is also long. Taking care of yourself today will set you up for a long, healthy and enjoyable life.
