Summer Daze & Big Hair

SD3Hey all. Hope you’re enjoying these hot, humid days and if you’re lucky enough to be experiencing milder temperatures, be nice … don’t rub it in. Just offer up supplication for those of us stuck here in Hell.

Nia finished taking out her box braids and wanted to share the results with you. Unfortunately, due to the humidity all curl definition was lost and we were left with “poofy” voluminous hair, which she LOVES! Major progress, people! With minimal manipulation and daily spritzing of our water mix (water, aloe vera juice and lavender sprigs), her hair is thriving.

After she’s done skipping and running through the sprinklers with Sebastian (one of our SD2Pomeranians, poor thing), we shall wash with Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner. This is a favorite of mine from the scent to way my hairs feels. Love, love, love the results so I’m trying it on Nia’s hair (I’ll let you know how it turns out) and then it’s back to box braids for another six to eight weeks.

Nia’s requesting the opportunity to impress you with her dope rapping skillz. Here goes:

SD1“Pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme and put your car on cruise and lay back cause it’s the summertime. Summer … summer … summertime! Time to sit back and unwind.” Get it y’all.

Daughter just said, “Dope? Whoa, Mom.”

First, did she tell me to slow down and second, is she insinuating I’m old? Humph, she couldn’t be more wrong. Truth be told, my skillz far exceed her own. One day she’ll surpass me … one day, just not today.

*Off Topic*
I’m not ignoring the comments in the Big Chop on Mini-Me post. Unfortunately, my responses disappear. Our beloved Jouelzy is aware and once all is fine, I will respond.
