greensmoothieThe green smoothie and I have become close over the past two year and half years.

I have seen the benefits in my skin, hair and overall health.

I’d break out with these tiny bumps all over my face and they would itch SO bad!

My Skin

When I am a wee-bit stressed I gravitate to refined sugars and processed foods – like most people – because they are quick, easy and provide a sense of comfort.

Unfortunately my skin is one who pays the ultimate price. After about a week of eating badly, I begin to breakout. This is an indicator for me that I need to get back to my normal diet because I begin to feel lazy, lethargic and blah.

My Hair

Dry-Hair-Pastaveia
Thirsty Hair.

As far as my hair is concerned I have noticed that my hair appears to be shiner and healthy when I drink my green smoothies on a regular basis, which for me is at least five to seven times a week. When I don’t drink the smoothie – my hair appears to limp, dry and dull.

Below are a few ingredients for one of my favorite smoothie:

½ cup Spinach and Kale – Both these foods are great sources of iron, a mineral that helps red blood cells carry oxygen to hair follicles

½ cup Pineapple – helps your digestion by cleaning the body’s organs and blood, increase your energy intake and boost metabolism, nourish your hair, skin, nails and teeth and keep you generally healthy

1 Banana – Banana is rich in potassium, natural oils, carbohydrates and vitamins which help in softening the hair and protect the hair’s natural elasticity preventing split ends and breakage

1 Apple – Apples are also a good conditioner and toner, and help fight acne.

3-4 ice cubes

6 oz. water

A green smoothie a day keeps the doctor away is my new motto. It’s all about making small changes that will lead to bigger and better results in the long run.
